on this website (hereinafter referred to as “the offer”).
The legal basis for this data privacy statement can be found in the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG).
Access data / Server log files
The provider (or rather his webspace provider) collects data about every access to the offer (so-called server log files). The access data include the following:
name of the requested website, file, date and time of request, data volume transferred, notification of successful request, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, referrer URL (of the previous page visited), the IP address and the requesting provider.
The provider uses the log data only for statistical evaluation for the purpose of operation, security and optimisation of the offer. However, the provider reserves the right to check the log data at a later date if there are concrete grounds to suspect illegal usage.
Handling of personal data
Personal data is information with the help of which a person can be identified, i.e. information which can be traced back to a person. This includes the name, e-mail address or telephone number. It also includes data about preferences, hobbies, memberships or which websites have been viewed by someone.
Personal data are collected, used and passed on by the provider, only if this is legally permitted or if the user consents to the data collection.
When contacting the provider (for example via a contact form or e-mail), the user’s data are stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry and also in case further questions from the user arise.
Comments and contributions
When users post comments on the blog or make other contributions, their IP addresses are saved. This is done for the security of the provider in case someone writes comments and contributions with illegal contents (insults, prohibited political propaganda, etc.). If this occurs, the provider himself may be prosecuted for the comment or contribution and is therefore interested in the author’s identity.
Integration of third party services and content
It is possible that third party contents, such as videos from YouTube, Google Maps map material, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites, may be included within this website. This always assumes that the providers of these contents (hereinafter referred to as “third party providers”) have knowledge of the IP address of the user. Without the IP address, they could not send the content to the respective user’s browser. The IP address is therefore required for the display of these contents. We try only to use content, whose respective providers use the IP address solely for the delivery of that content. However, we have no influence over the third party provider if they choose to save the user’s IP address, e.g. for statistical purposes. If we know about this, we will inform the users.
Cookies are small files that allow specific information related to the user’s access device (PC, smart phone, etc.) to be stored on the user’s device. They serve to improve the user-friendliness of web pages and thus support the user (e.g. saving of log-in data). In addition, cookies collect statistical data regarding website usage; this data can then be analysed in order to improve the offer. Users can influence the enablement of cookies and most browsers have an option that limits or completely restricts the storage of cookies. However, it should be noted that website use and, in particular, user-friendliness is reduced when no cookies are activated.
You can manage many company online advertising cookies via the US site http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the EU site http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/ verwalten.
This offer uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”. These are text files that are stored on users’ computers and which allow an analysis of the use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about the use of this website by the users is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
However, in the case of the activation of the IP anonymisation on this website, the user IP address will be shortened by Google. This applies within Member States of the European Union or in other states which are party to the agreement within the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. IP anonymisation is active on this website. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate the use of the website by the users, to compile reports on website activities and to provide other services for the website operator related to the website and internet usage.
The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. Users can prevent the storage of cookies by setting their browser software accordingly. However, this offer informs users that in this case, they may no longer be able to fully utilise all functions of this website. Users may further prevent Google from aquiring data generated by cookies and related to the user’s use of the website (including IP address) and also stop Google from processing such data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.
As an alternative to the browser add-on or within browsers on mobile devices, please click on this link to prevent Google Analytics collecting data on this website in the future. Thereby an opt-out cookie will be stored on your device. If you delete your cookies, you must click on this link again.
Use of Facebook social plugins
This offer uses social plugins (“plugins”) from the social network facebook.com, operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”). The plugins are visible on some of the Facebook logos (white “f” on blue tile, the terms “like” or “thumb up”) or are marked by the addition of the wording “Facebook social plugin”. The list and the appearance of the Facebook social plugins can be viewed here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.
When a user visits a web page from this offer that contains such a plugin, his browser makes a direct link to the Facebook servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly from Facebook to his browser and integrated into the website. This means that the provider has no influence over the scope of the data which Facebook obtains with the help of this plugin and therefore informs the user according to the current information status:
Through integration of the plugin, Facebook obtains the information that a user has called-up the relevant page of the offer. If the user is logged-on to Facebook, Facebook can assign the visit to his Facebook account. If users interact with the plugins, for example, press the Like button or post a comment, the corresponding information will be sent directly from the user’s browser to Facebook and stored there. If a user is not a member of Facebook, there is still the possibility that Facebook will find out and save his IP address. According to Facebook, in Germany only an anonymised IP address is stored.
The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook; the user’s rights in this respect and the setting options for protecting users’ privacy, can be found in Facebook’s privacy statement: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
If a user is a Facebook member and does not want Facebook to collect data about him through this offer and to link it with his member data stored on Facebook, he has to log out of Facebook before visiting this website. Within the Facebook profile settings, it is possible for the user to make further adjustments and to reject the use of the data for advertising purposes: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.
Information, revocation, changes, corrections and updates
The user has the right to receive information, on request, free of charge, relating to personal data about him that has been stored. In addition, the user has the right to correct incorrect data and to block and delete his personal data, as long as there is no statutory retention requirement.
